It's like I HAVE to know what the painting is about before I can even consider doing the background. Maybe I'm too much of a control freak? I think you have just gone up a whole new level in your painting style, I really love it (and I love all your work !!) this has a rich velvety smoothness and a depth to it that I just love. I do the background first and I find it much easier than fiddling a background around an existing centerpiece, but like you, it did feel uncomfortable at first, but now it makes so much sense and I feel it creates a more cohesive picture. Oil pastels, but I only used them around the outline of the dress, trish. good eye you have! the rest is paint, layers of tissue paper, stamping.. haven't had a chance to work on this one again, but i have made progress on some other paintings. gotta get my scanner working..it is really making me miserable right now. i can't open the software anymore. i don't know what happened. grr!
