it was a day for pigtails and escaping out the back door

December 8, 2008 - 11:41 pm 5 Comments

Today was a day to escape out the back door, and roam around in the warm Kansas wind. It was a beautiful day. Beautiful! 62F.

It was a day for pigtails,

and hiding from the camera.

The sign by the back door was purchased on Etsy. I wish I could remember the seller’s name, but I can’t. I’m sure you could find her, if you do a search, though.

Sunday views from my desk

Boring, but it’s all I’ve got on this gray december day.
Views from my desk.

shipping out Etsy and Amazon orders. woo hoo! thank you!

Greg and I stayed up until almost 4am watching The L Word. It was hard to concentrate because my TMJ was really flared up, and I was almost in tears. He was kind enough to stay up with me since I couldn’t lie down..mouth piece bothers me sometimes when I lie down. Before we knew it, we had watched all of season one, disc one. So, we didn’t wake up until almost noon. It’s been a lazy day. This is all I’ve got for now. Time to get myself into the studio and work, so I’ll have something to post later.

ani & letters

December 6, 2008 - 11:42 pm 1 Comment

These letters were an exchange between a mother and her son during the war. I have read them all, and have a unique peek inside their lives. He liked photography, and would spend his last few pennies for film and development. He would send the rest of what he earned to his mother, so she could pay the bills. He also had a sweetheart back home in Ohio, but he wouldn’t marry her. He feared being trapped in a marriage, so he kept re-enlisting.

Still, he struggled with his decision in almost every letter he wrote home to his mother. He thought he should settle down, and he would even tell his mother he was going home for good. He’d tell her that he was going to ask his girlfriend to marry him. Somehow, it never worked out that way, though. At the last minute he got cold feet, and the next letter home would say he signed the re-enlistment papers again. And, he’d go into detail about his guilt. It seemed like an endless cycle.

The story ends too soon. I have no idea what happened, but I have a gut feeling how it ended.

he said that she was a real fancy

December 6, 2008 - 2:05 pm 6 Comments

Art Journal entries from yesterday. Since I joined the 3 Week Challenge I have been working in my art journal almost every day. I’m not keeping up with the other stuff because eh..I don’t want to. The challenge is too rigid for me, and it’s not really my cup of tea. I knew that going in. I knew I wouldn’t stick with it. Surprisingly, I have been art journaling though. Something clicked with me when I started doing it again, and I’m loving how stress-free it can be. No worries. It’s just something I’m making for fun and for ME!

Just Hanging Out Treasury

December 6, 2008 - 12:02 pm 2 Comments

Squeal! Look! go see! I’m in an Etsy treasury!! Thank you DreamON!!!

His wife was at work. All his laundry was dirty. Good thing he knew his way around the laundry room. He threw a big ole load in the washer.

He, in his underwear, sat down and watched a bit of tv.

After the wash had finished its last spin cycle, he realized he had nothing to wear out to the clothesline. So, he borrowed his wife’s skirt and sweater. As he hung up his orange shirt, he glanced around to make sure no one was watching him.

sausage supper

December 5, 2008 - 8:24 am 5 Comments

submitted to the Photo Friday Challenge: Dusk

This photograph has nothing to do with the rest of the entry. I thought the sign was funny, considering it was sitting outside that old, rusty barn. I wonder if the supper was really held there. Do people really eat sausage in old rusty barns? Maybe only in Kansas? hm.. Some questions never get answered. sigh! It will forever be a mystery to me.

I just re-joined JPG magazine. Haven’t been there in a while cuz I kinda lost interest in photography. GASP! I knooow! How? I’m not sure what happened, but I put all my cameras down and walked away for a while. It’s been a bit too long. I think I want back in the game, so I’m jumping in with both feet.

JPG is a friendly little community. Within minutes of uploading my first picture, I had a couple people asking to be my contacts. Niiice! Absolutely!! And, not only that, it is a real print magazine. So, if you submit to one of the monthly themes and they pick it, they will pay you $100. If that appeals to you, as much as it does me, then sign up!! Add me as a contact and we’ll never be lonely.

I’m also going to start submitting to Thursday Challenge and Photo Friday again. I used to contribute religiously, but like I said..eh. I’m dusting all my cameras off. If you know of anymore sites like these, please let me know. I’d prefer one that pays money (of course!), but I’m not fussy. heh!

Woo! I was FishHawk Droppings Five for Friday pick. Sweet! Check it out!!

Oooh, and ladies, if you want to read a funny story involving Linda Woods’ camera and feminine products, click here. It is hysterical. I just love her sense of humor, always!
