working in layers in photoshop for Misty’s class
Gearing up for a Superbowl party. I absolutely love the Superbowl. Ohh, yes!! I’ve watched it every year for the past oh ten or so years. I love football!!
Okay, forget that..I like the food and drink. Go Pats!! I mean, Giants!! No, Pats!! Eh, I don’t really care. But, if Dallas was playing, I’d be excited.
Got the jello shots made this morning! I’m going to make egg rolls from a recipe Misty gave us in class last week, minus the mushrooms cuz I don’t like them. ew! slugs! lol I made the recipe once last week, and it was sooo good. So, gotta try it again. I’m not sure what else I’m gonna make yet. Still planning the menu.

And, because what’s a blog post without a video? Next week I’ll have one of my own painting videos edited, but for now, enjoy one of my favorite songs, Cotton, by John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats. Have a great weekend! See you on Monday!
This song is for the rats
Who hurled themselves into the ocean
When they saw that the explosives in the cargo hold
Were just about to blow
This song is for the soil
That’s toxic clear down to the bedrock
Where no thing of consequence can grow
Drop your seeds there, let them go
Let them go
Let them all go
this song is for the people
who tell their family that they’re sorry
for things they can’t and won’t
feel sorry for.
and once there was a desk
and now it’s in a storage locker somewhere
and this song is for the stickpins and the cottons
i left in the top drawer.
let ‘em all go..let ‘em all go.
i wanna sing one for the cars
that are right now headed silent down the highway
and it’s dark and there is nobody driving
and something has got to give
i saw you standing by the roadside
you didn’t know that I was watching
well, now
you know
Let it all go
Let ‘em all go
Let it all go
Page from my art journal.
I’ve been working on abstract paintings, and I really love it.
I mean, I love the process. I’m not so good at the painting part, yet.
I need more practice.
I also painted 3 seascapes tonight. One after the other. And, I like them all. Even the one I completely destroyed, and had to start again.
This page isn’t finished. Not sure what I’m going to do with it. But, it doesn’t feel complete yet. Got some playing left to do.

Crazy! It was 70F on February 1st. My back porch was warm and sunny. Tonight, a thunderstorm has been hanging overhead for about an hour, and will be sticking around all day tomorrow. Looking forward to that, as I always do. I love stormy days, and we haven’t had many this winter. Sunny and warm it’s been. I was kinda looking forward to a snow storm or two, but nah. Not this year, I guess. There’s a blizzard just slightly north of us, but we’re gonna get lots of rain.
Big Red Fred
70F, and the big red dog was panting, and begging to come inside. Fred can’t take the heat or the cold. He is very fussy about the temperature, and wants it controlled. Not too cold. Not too hot.

Lana Del Rey was on Letterman tonight, and I was watching. I don’t care what the critics say about her. I think they’re all wrong! I love her style and voice.
Happy PPF everyone! It’s late, and I gotta get to bed. Be sure to click on the big “Miz Katie” at the top of the page, and look back at other posts. I’ve been updating quite a bit this week.
It is so crazy warm here this year. I saw these motorcycles out on 50 a couple weeks ago.

Greg took this photo of me at the river by our apartment in WV a few years ago.
Wordless Wednesday - the site seems to be down this morning, but I’m going to post my photos anyway.
I woke up at 4am. Or, I should say, Sweet Pea woke me at 4am. lol I had this new series on my mind, so I jumped up, and into the studio. I haven’t stopped, except to eat breakfast.
I haven’t felt this excited about a series in a long time. I am doing these on cardboard with inexpensive paint, so I can sell them cheaper than my portraits.
I need to take these outside to get better photos, but this will give you an idea. So, get ready! I’m going to start listing them in my Etsy shop this afternoon.
